Torn between two photographers

So I heard from a recent potential client that she didn’t hire me, but went with another photographer. Wah. :( The final decision was given over to pure chance. “It’s sad to say, but I had to break out my lucky coin to make the final decision.  Choosing a photographer was really tough.”

I can understand. There’s plenty of good photographer’s out there and when you find one, two or three that you like equally, whether for the same or different reasons, making a decision can seem overwhelming if not downright impossible. Instead of leaving the choice up to the randomness of a coin toss, try something more creative and engaging. Make us work for you! One idea could be to put the situation on the table in front of your final two photographers. Offer them a challenge. Say something like, “I’ve narrowed my choices down to two photographers and price is not an issue at this point. So put together a portfolio or presentation to convince me to hire you.” Give a time frame and see what happens. You never know what you may get out of the experience, you always learn something when you test someone’s creativity and challenge business as usual.
